Centre for the Macedonian Language in Greece is pleased to offer a free online Macedonian language course for beginners.
Target audience:
• Citizens of Greece that have little or no knowledge of standard Macedonian.
• All age groups.
Methodology:
• 100% online, accessible anytime.
• Self-paced learning, study Macedonian gradually or intensively – it’s up to you!
• All lessons are available in PDF and VIDEO format via our Learning Management System (LMS).
• Language of instruction: Greek
Course content:
The course has a total of 70
lessons, grouped into five parts:
1. Macedonian Grammar: Part One (14 lessons)
2. Macedonian Grammar: Part Two (16 lessons)
3. Macedonian Grammar: Part Three (10 lessons)
4. Macedonian Vocabulary (20 lessons)

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard developed by the Council of Europe for describing language ability. It describes language ability on a six reference levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1,
C2), from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language.
As this is a beginner's course, following completion of all 70 lessons, learners should reach at a minimum level of A1 and A2 in Macedonian. Specifically, learners should
able to:
A1
- Breakthrough or beginner
• Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
• Can introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know and things they have.
• Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
A2 - Waystage or elementary- Breakthrough or beginner
• Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
• Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
• Can describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
